Furthermore recognises that there is a climate emergency and that, as such, we have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and overall environmental impact and we encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same. In addition to complying with all relevant regulatory requirements, we strive to go above and beyond by continually monitoring our environmental performance and seeking areas for improvement.
Clients
- We are selective in our clients and we take into consideration the environmental impact and social values of an organisation before working with them. We do not work with fossil fuel companies and try to avoid other high-carbon industries.
Office Use
- Employees are all semi-remote and the office is only used once or twice per week so the energy impact is minimal.
- We avoid the use of paper products except where absolutely necessary and only use recycled and recyclable paper products.
- Lights and electrical equipment are switched off when not in use and heating is adjusted with energy consumption in mind.
- The energy consumption and efficiency of new products are taken into account when purchasing.
Transportation
- Employees are only required to travel to our office on average once per week and when doing so are encouraged to use public transportation or active travel modes.
- We avoid air travel unless absolutely necessary and we average fewer than 2 flights per year over the last 10 years.
Culture
- We will involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.
- We will work with suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors to improve their environmental performance.
- We will use local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 and help the community.
Our Work
- Most of our projects are design, research and strategy based, we partner with development agencies or internal teams for build. We encourage all our partners to implement green hosting, this generally means that the hosting provider is producing more energy than it consumes, or they are actively offsetting their emissions in some way.
- We have designed and developed our own walking app - Go Jauntly. This app focuses on active travel. It shows users the greenest routes to walk by offering alternatives to more polluted ones. We also encourage users to walk more rather than drive through inspiring photo-led guides.
- For some clients it's important for them that their users stick around for as long as possible. The more they are on their site the more engaged they may be said to be. Although true in some cases, a more efficient journey, getting the information to a user as fast as possible is a better engagement experience. By making journeys fast, efficient and simple, people spend less time on the site, the site uses less energy, which in turn produces fewer emissions. So a well thought through UX and a clear UI is more important than ever.
